The PEACE Model


In its design and delivery, PEACE is guided by the following Parent Engagement best-practices to increase active parent engagement with their children to prepare them for learning success:

  • A Multipronged Parent Empowerment Framework using a diversity of tools and techniques to strengthen parent skill-sets in engaging with and nurturing their children
  • Delivering services to parents, other caregivers and educators
  • A Two-Generation Approach serving both parents and their children
  • Collaborative Method of Parenting Education Program and not Prescriptive
  • Responsive to family needs, values and culturally-sensitive
  • Focused on Relationship-Building with parents, caregivers and educators
  • Highly engaging, interactive and hands-on delivery model to inspire and sustain parent participation

Our Activities

Family Child Learning Fairs

  • Both the child and the parent are an essential component of the Learning Fair events.
  • A variety of child-focused fun and joyful learning stations – representing developmental, academic and art-leisure domains – will be offered at the fair.
  • Parent with their young child rotate through the stations.
  • Feeling empowered, parents will gain skills to foster the scholastic, behavioral and social success of their children.
  • The Learning Fair will serve approximately 25-30 families and their children.
  • The fair events will generally be held on Saturdays.
  • The fair venues will vary depending on parent needs and neighborhood support.
  • Both the parent or caregiver and the children participate together in the Learning Fair.
  • A variety of child-focused and hands-on learning stations – representing developmental, academic and art-leisure domains –are usually offered at the fair. 
  • Parents/caregivers with the children rotate through the diverse stations. 
  • Parents will gain skills to replicate the activities at home to foster their child’s developmental, academic, behavioral and school success.

Seminars will be presented on topics relevant and meaningful to families:

  • Emotional Bonding
  • Behavior Strategies
  • Physical Well-being
  • Literacy Learning Strategies
  • Academic Attainment
  • Executive Function Skills (Attention, Memory and Problem-Solving)
  • Self-Regulation Techniques

Workshop-style seminars demonstrating hands-on activities will be presented on topics relevant and meaningful to families. Some topics presented are:

  • Nurturing the Growing Mind Series:
    • Emotional Bonding with Infants and Young Children
    • Nurturing Social-emotional Development of Infants and Toddlers
    • Physical Well-being and Nutrition (focused on infants and Toddlers)
    • Fostering Language Development 
    • Promoting Cognitive Development

For parents/caregivers with school-age children-
Resources and Tips

Brain Research and Early Childhood Development 

    • STEM-focused Strategies for Academic and School Success
    • Positive Behavior Approaches
    • Strengthening Executive Function Self-Regulation Skills (Attention, Memory and Impulse Control)
    • Highly qualified professionals -authors and educational consultants will present the seminar sessions. 
    • Special workshops and demonstrations will be offered based on feedback from parents derived from surveys taken during the fair.
